EAGLE Distributes Capacity Optimized Storage with Data Domain

June 1 , 2006 - Salina, KS - EAGLE Software is now distributing Data Domain's Capacity Optimized Storage. Using its high-speed deduplication technology, Data Domain’s DD400 Series appliances can store several months of backup and recovery data at a price point equivalent to tape. Massive data deduplication and compression make this possible — on average 20x data reduction — at very high throughput rates shrinking data volume to an absolute minimum. A fraction of the physical storage is needed to store months and months of backup data.

The Data Domain Replicator software option extends these data reduction and cost benefits to the network, enabling Wide Area Network (WAN) vaulting for DR, remote office data protection and multi-site tape consolidation. Backup data sets are effectively shrunk down, 99% smaller in bandwidth than a full backup, to a size where WAN vaulting is economically and operationally feasible.

Additionally, the DD400 Enterprise Series offers unprecedented levels of data verification through its Data Invulnerability Architecture, which ensures that backed up data is restorable. Data Domain products integrate seamlessly with existing backup software applications, so only minimal infrastructure changes are needed to reap the benefits of this level of storage and network efficiency.
